Want to Become a Content Creator in 2026? 10 Things You Must Know
whatās up people! Once again, Mihir Arora with some real gyaan ki baatein.
So thereās a question I have received so many times: āMihir bhai, is 2026 a good year to begin making content?ā
My honest answer? Yes. 100%.
However, hereās the real deal. It is more competitive now than it was 3-4 years ago. Everyone is carrying a cell phone. We all have an idea. Everyone believes that theyāre the next big creator. Therefore if you want to stand out, you have to go in smart.
If youāre considering getting started to become a content creator in 2026, then this blog is for you. There are no textbook tips here. No fancy frameworks. Iām going to share with you whatās working. Letās get into it.
1. Stop Waiting for the Right Time
Bhai abhi phone accha nahi hai. Thoda time aane do. āOnce Iām ready, I will begin.ā
Sound familiar?
Itās a day that will never arrive. I promise. Thereās always a reason to wait. Meanwhile, someone with less equipment and less knowledge than you is posting and growing.
It began with a mic of ā¹150. No DSLR. No ring light. No fancy setup. If you can afford to invest in quality equipment, then thatās fine. However, do not assume that you need all of the above before you get started. You do not. All you need is your phone. Start today. Leave the rest to be worked out later.
2. Pick One Topic and Stick to It
This is where most of the newbies get it wrong. They share tech one day, lifestyle, and food, and travel the next. Then they ask themselves, āWhy donāt people follow me?
The reason you have an audience is because they follow you. Provide them with one clear reason.
Choose a subject that you are passionate about. A topic that will be of interest on even your worst days. Bad days will come. But on those days, itās only passion that keeps you going.
Be sure not to overthink it. Choose what you love and stand for it.
3. Consistency Beats Talent
Let me share a bitter fact no one wants to hear. It doesnāt have to be the smartest person in the room. Regular attendance is required!
Think about it. An average creator with 3 posts a week for 1 year will outpace a brilliant creator with 2 posts a month. Every single time.
Algorithms love consistency. Audiences love consistency. Brands love consistency. People start to trust you when youāre consistent in your appearance. Trust is all in this game, No shortcut for it.
4. Get Inspired, But Be YOU
It is a good idea to learn from successful creators. Copying them is not a good thing.
There is already one of them in this world. The world is in need of You. Your stories. Your opinions. Your odd type of humor. Your attitude towards something.
Thatās what makes people follow you in particular. Not your camera. Not your editing. Not your thumbnail. You.
Observe others, take notes, get inspired. Then go and make it yours! Always add your own special touch to it. Always.
5. Short Videos Are Good, But Donāt Stop There
Reels and Shorts are perfect for getting discovered. If you are in the early stages of creation, thatās a good place to begin. Perfect for quickly gaining exposure of your content.
However, there is one thing. Views for short videos. Long-form content is the way to foster trust.
This is what makes your followers feel like they actually know you ā a long blog post, a YouTube video or a podcast. When they trust you, they stay with you. They become loyal fans, instead of random scrollers who forgot about you the next morning.
Grab peopleās attention with short video clips. Go long to keep them contained.
6. Donāt Chase Money at the Start
I know, I know. But money is necessary, Mihir bhai,ā
Yes, obviously. But hear me out.
If youāre making content just for the money, it will not be content. You will feel it when you make it, even you! And the audience? They feel it too. When it comes to creation, nobody ever knows when it is being done for the wrong reasons.
Construct your material initially. Build your audience. Build your reputation. When these three things are strong, money is right there. The brand deals and collabs will find you as you work on those.
7. Use AI, But Keep Your Voice
AI tools are amazing! Use them. They help you save time, provide ideas, speed up the editing process and make your entire process easier.
However, donāt allow AI to replace you.
No AI tool gives your personality, your opinion, your story, to your audience. Your content will sound like someone typed if itās starting to turn into such. Fast.
Use AI as a helper. Not as the creator. You are the author. Always remember that.
8. Protect Your Mental Health
No one will talk about it enough, so I will.
Burnout is real. Bad days are real. Videos will flop. Posts with 0 interactions. Days where you are thinking of giving up all of it.
This happens even to the largest creators. You are not alone!
Take breaks. Have a life beyond content. Go out with friends. Sleep properly. Do activities unrelated to creating. Thatās not being lazy! Thatās how you ensure that youāre safeguarding the creativity that makes your content worth watching.
Donāt wear yourself down. No reel is worth losing your mind.
9. Build Your Personal Brand, Not Just Your Account (Most Important)
This is most important, so listen closely here.
Your Instagram profile is owned by Instagram. YouTube is the owner of your YouTube channel. Should those sites fall tomorrow, or should your account be restricted, what are you left with?
Your personal brand. Thatās what you have. Forever.
Create a website. Sign your work on each platform. Get on 3+ platforms and post 3+ times a week on 1 of the platforms. Create your own name, larger than one particular account.
Because platforms change. Algorithms change. But your personal brand goes with you everywhere you go.
Mihirarora.com is mine. What will yours be?
10. Enjoy the Process
Last one and this one really does put it all together.
Donāt live for just the destination. 100k followers, that first viral video, the first brand deal. These are great things! However, they canāt be it all.
Thatās why creators who stick around in this industry are those who like to create content. Full stop. Anybody who enjoys what they do, will continue to do it. But, persist and over time results will always follow.
Donāt forget to fall in love with the process. The numbers will do the rest.
